Below we have our professional profiles for our teachers here at Go Dance Studios.
MICHELLE COOPER PRINCIPAL My first love of dance has to be Ballroom dancing. My mother sent me to Ballroom dance classes at the age of five on a Saturday morning in my home town of Wellingborough. Later after having taken all my medals in Ballroom & Latin I became a student dance teacher. It was during this time that Saturday Night Fever hit the screen and Disco/Freestyle dance arrived - big time. It was a fantastic era to be a part of for a young student teacher starting out.I witnessed the very first disco competition at 'The Cats Whiskers' in Streatham, London and never looked back.
My partner and I went on to win the All England Professional Freestyle Championships at Hammersmith Palais.
I then went onto qualify as a Ballroom and Freestyle dance teacher and began training freestyle competitors myself including a championship team. Most of my weekends were taken up adjudicating freestyle competitions up and down the country.
In 1982 shortly after moving to Lincolnshire I opened my own dance school, I then went on to qualify as a Theatre branch teacher.
I am now teaching and looking after my own busy dance school here in Sleaford, preparing for exams and shows and looking forward to the next 25 years.
